Alnus rubra : Red Alder (1-0, 24"-36") (Code: 1747)

Fast growing and straight, the tree can reach as high as 120', often much smaller. The roots fix nitrogen in the soil and improve the growth of other plants. It prefers moist sites along stream banks. The hard wood is in high demand for furniture and industrial use making it the most important and most valuable hardwood in the Pacific NW timber industry.
