In the wild, Shore Pine is often contorted due to wind blown conditions but they will grow straight in protected landscapes. A small Pine for the Pacific NW where trees usually grow very large. It's close relative, the Lodgepole Pine grows east of the Cascades and is used for lumber but the coastal variety is too small. The Shore Pine tolerates moist and even boggy conditions. It needs full sun.
