Sturdy, dark green foliage is tipped with bright yellow buds at Christmas. It's used in Christmas wreaths and floral displays but is heavy so less widely used in garland. It has a deep cedar scent and very durable wood. It's often used for pencils. The tree grows to 70' or more on moist but well drained sandy sites. It is native to to forests from northern California to Washington.
