Pinus ponderosa: Ponderosa Pine, Willamette Valley (Band Pots)

Usually considered an Eastern Oregon timber tree, this variety is native to the Willamette Valley in Oregon. They will tolerate wet sites as well as dry sites. Like their arid cousins, they grow very tall and straight. The bark is red/brown in color and the barrel shaped cones are fist sized or larger. The foliage tends to be slightly longer and more lush than the eastern variety.
